He was born in Portsmouth, VA on Sept. 13, 1979 to Ray and Rhonda Bowden. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray; grandparents, Robert Sr. and Aiko Phillips and William and Florence Bowden; and two uncles, Harry Phillips and Terrance Phillips.
Robert was a 1997 graduate of Lanphier High School; he received his Associates Degree from LLCC in 2007. He attended Abundant Faith Christian Church. He was an avid soccer player and enjoyed physical fitness. He cherished the time he spent with his daughters.
He is survived by two daughters, Venus Wise and Penelope Bowden, both of Springfield; life partner, Jessica Wise of Springfield; mother, Rhonda Phillips of Springfield; aunts and uncles, Elaine (Edwin) Dixon, Fred (Sharon) Phillips, Clarice (Jeff) Blaskie, Doris Abernathy, Robert Phillips, Jr., Mike Bowden and Steve Bowden; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the time of a funeral service at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Doss will officiate.
